Bethel Ridge Trail
On the way up to the Bethel Ridge 4WD Trail near Rimrock Lake in WA today, we stopped to check out a geocache and got this terrific view of the Goat Rocks that are just SW of the Lake. It took us two hours to run the Bethel Ridge Trail and we saw no one else in the area. I guess everyone else was already heading home after the holiday.

That's the problem when you wheel with only one vehicle. You can't just take a quick pic of what the other guy is doing. So we didn't end up taking very many pics and the ones we did take aren't really good ones that show the few "hairy" spots on the trail so I won't bother to post them!
When I found the Bethel Ridge Trail listed on a Jeep website, I thought it was basically going to be a dirt road but when we got up there we soon realized that 4WD was absolutely necessary. Naturally, the further we got on the trail, the more difficult it got. While it was fairly flat, there was some muddy spots and deep ruts. Since the Jeep website said that this was a fairly easy trail, I was lazy and left my step rails on. This was a mistake as we had to go really slow to keep from banging the rails on stuff. While I'm sure the trail was easy for a modified Jeep, it was more challenging for a newbie in a stock X. Jeep Website: http://www.nwjeepn.com Dave |

E-brakes and a rock under the tire if necessary are good for pics. If you check out my photos I'm almost never in the truck.
![]() Ditch the steprails if you're going out. It's just 6 bolts total to remove them. Just remember to put the bolts back in so you don't get mud and crap in there with the rails off. |

Yeah, next time I will have to get out of the truck more and take some pics.
BTW it's actually 8 bolts total to remove the step rails. I have taken the step rails off a couple of times before. I just got lazy this time. Soon I will move them to my Frontier and then get some sliders for this thing. I'm thinking Shrockworks sliders. I'll bet using the threaded holes in the middle for the sliders (unused for the stock steprails) can be a bitch because there has never been a bolt in them. After a year of driving this vehicle I'll bet those middle bolt holes are crapped up. Dave |

A brass cleaning brush from a .45 works great in getting the gunk out!
