Tire Question
I just had a couple of questions about tires. On my 2001 Mustang GT I have Yokohama A520 that are 275/35ZR17 and I was thinking about getting some wider tires, possibly 295 or even 315, how wide can I reasonably go on my car? Also, I like my Yokohamas and all, but what kind of tires are really the best for street use, I have noticed that Pirelli PZeros are put on a lot of really high performance cars. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

On some of these tire web sites like Nitto, They list the maxium tire size for your rim. I would go as wide as you can.

I hope you don't have the stock rims. You're already way too wide if you do, and I'm not quite sure how you got them on, lol.

No, I don't have the ugly stock rims thank god, I have some 95 Cobra R chrome rims. And I already feel bad about having Cobra rims on a GT, but they were on the car when I got it.

Right now it is pretty close to stock, give or take a few hories and a little torque. However, I am just now starting to modify so that will be going up slowly but surely.

well, then 275s are plenty big, if your get 295s or 315s you'll have to much traction, making it hard to do all the fun stuff around turrns and parkinglots, ect ect... but if you REALLY want to go big don't go any bigger then a 295, after 315s they hurt your handling. and also if you get 295s for the rear go for a 255 in the front

Hey rerun,
How Dwayne, and Roger? I agree, go with 295/255. That is a pretty wide ass tyre. go to www.4lo.com you can check your tyre measurment there.
