Such thing as a 92-96 H22 Type-S???

Wassup all!

I gotta guy in Coloroda that wants to sell me a H22 Type-S motor for a decent price. However, everything I research tells me that Type-S motors came out in Japan in 1997???? He tells me that they spit out like 230hp instead of the 220hp because of the closed deck. Keep in mind that my research is limited to my "search" button on my I-explorer, but I can't find $#@! on anything from 92-96!!! Do any of you guys know if this is true or not? Please let me know and if you got any links that would help too!

Thanks

ok there was an h22 from a prelude in those years, also a S prelude was made(there was an S, Si, 4WS, And Vtec model) so this motor is prolly from the s model and they just called it type-s, however, the motor made nowhere near 230hp, unless it was worked.

Thanks Civic, and if I'm not mistaken.. the Prelude"S" did not come with the VTEC right? That was a different engine as well. But while waiting for your replies to this thread I found this:

http://www.profxtech.com/illuzion/store/h22a4.htm

In this ad it shows the Type-S motor from years 92+ ??????

I don't want to buy this motor and find out it isn't a Type-S or I'll be making an unwanted trip to Colorado.. not whatta mean!?!?!

Anyone else have more info????

Thanks again Civic for your help!

sorry for the delay, anyway that looks like the newer h22 from new prelude, which there is a type S variant that runs 220hp.

back in 93-96, none of the prelude h22 made 220. so get some info more indepth from this guy before you drop your money on it.

The guys offering the motor for $2800 shipped for another $500. I must of asked him about thirty times over the past two months "and it's a Type-S?" Yes he says!! To eliminate any confusion I asked him how much the regular JDM H22s' are and he told me $2300 "but most people go with the Type-S". The guy doesn't sound like an idiot, and when I asked for prices on other performance parts they were crazy high!

www.phatnlow.com

That is their website but it doesn't show the motor on there. As a matter of fact they don't have much of anything on the site. PLEASE, anyone feel free to give "Brian" a call and pick his brain about this motor and let us all know here. Especially me! This money is burning a hole in my pocket... finally found a speedshop in Tampa that will do the swap for $700. Found a OBD2-OBD1 harness on Ebay for $150.... now all I need is the damn motor.

Also, just to add on! These prices that he gave me and will probably give anyone else that calls, do not reflect the website and ARE for COMPLETE changeovers. Motor, tranny, ECU, etc. Believe me I asked all the questions I can think of, they are not longblock prices.....

That site has a table with all the engine specs from the various Preludes.
