Help Wiring On 89 Legend

hey guys...a couple of weeks ago i put a new deck in my car...well, when i put the deck in there were some extra wires, but the deck worked so it didnt bother me...I got everything put back together...but now i have a short...its causing all the of the instrument panel not to light up and the tail lights to be out...its got to be in the those five wires everything is wired correctly...has any one ran into this before...i could not find anything in the car manual or in my not so handi dandi haynes manual...the guy at the store suggested that i buy the 120 dollar factory manual...hopefully somebody else knows how so i dont have to

first off i have a question. If you apparently don't have the equipment and kowledge to be hardwiring shit why are you shoulda spent the 10-15 bucks and got a harness. But since the damage is done if the wires are sitting in there bare you should cut off the ends and throw some tape on em if you keep blowing fuses you prolly thought your illumination wire as your memory/12v wire test your power acc and ground with a meter also turn lights off and on and dimmer up and down since these are usually inthere and may test 12v when at rest.
be sure and check all fuses as well.

all my fuses are good...i hardwired because i didnt want to spend the 15 bucks and my friend who does have the **equipment and skill** and we got everything working...but there was a wire that lit up the old head unit was on the same fuse as the running and instrument lights...all my other fuses are good...i just was hoping someone knew which wire was on that fuse...

PS all but five wires are used...in the new deck... the extra five are in the old harness still...should i cut those wires and tape them off...or am i not understanding...sorry for all the newbage bs
