Honda CRV head on Integra LS block?

Does anyone know what gains are expected from an engine conversion like this (CRV head on Integra LS block). I've noticed it is fairly popular and I was wondering what an Integra would gain from it.

Oh yeah...I'm not doing it to my Accord. I was just looking into it for a friend.

uhm...why would u even do this? do u mean the crvtec? its possible, yes, but why?

most of the time ppl replace the head of a non-vtec motor w/ a vtec one...(ls/vtec, b20vtec)

Because a 1994 integra Ls doesn't have a vtec. And I thought a CRV has a V tec.

A CRV-Tec can provide substantial amounts of power, expecially with a build but no ordinary mechanic can just stick them together. It needs to be done right the first time or you will be up shit creek without a paddle. I think they are known for lots of top end, but not too good in the low, good, but not real good.

cool...I was just wondering because some psycho mechanic did some crazy stuff and worked on a really nice black integra that my brother just bought. The mechanic sold it to my bro so he could get an S2000 and make it sick. Do you know by any chance the horsepower and torque gains and loses?

Let me set you on the right track. Neither the CRV nor the LS have Vtec. The LS is known for is block thickness and the CRV for its displacement. The LS is commonly put with a B18 head in order to make an LS/Vtec and some killer bottom and mid range power. The CRV is commonly put with the B16 head in order to make the CRVtec and it is also popularly turboed. The turbo CRV can be a complete monster, but I am not sure about the turbo CRVtec. But basically the bottom line is you can't get Vtec from an LS or CRV, you have to either have a GSR B18 head or B16 head.

the b20 is really weak on power....not sure, but I think its only like 120hp.....

But thats because of the intake manifold attatched to the b20....the motor gets poor amounts of air. Just adding a CTR(or skunk2) manifold to the mix, nets you like 35 hp immediately. The b20 can be a good swap without the vtec, if you take care of the restrictive manifold.

CRV/Vtec ?!?

I agree with some.... The CRV block is actually pretty strong. b20b block has the same stroke as an ls and it is actually almost 1/8" thicker than a h-series block. If your wanting to use the CRV head on a ls block you can gain torque and some mid range. just use a skunk 2 manifold and b16/gsr injectors for more fuel. Not the ls injectors. But it all depends on what your goal is for the car/motor. B16 head crv block for turbo applicatons but build it at leats pistons/rods/block guard and a z10 main girdle. you will be great. Im positive about this deal that everyone thinks that the crv block is weak... i know its not, use the right parts, correct measurements, time and most of all $. I will have my b20/b16 "60-1 turbonetics", AEM ems, etc... done soon...
