Max keeps shittin out on me!

Hey guys I haven't been on here in a long time, probably because my Max keeps dying! Argh...I had to take 2 trips to the mechanics within a 1 weeks period because 1 02 sensor failed...then 3 days later another one failed! What's up with that? It's a '97 about 1000 miles from the 80k mark, I don't think these kinds of things should be happening. I know the earlier Maximas had problems with the O2 sensors (like the early 90s)...but I didn't think it was a problem on the others. Also a freak thing happened the other day where my clutch was slipping (and I knew my clutch couldn't be burned out because it was replaced only a year ago). So I pulled over and shut the car off for like 10 minutes...when I turned it on and drove it again everything was fine!!! Any explanation for this? I don't know...I just thought this thing was supposed to be reliable, but so far it has been a nightmare. It also had to have a steering column replaced due to a leak. Cost?...800 bucks...now plus the 500 to get the O2 sensors replaced. *sigh* Not easy stuff to deal with when you're an 18 yr old. Any of you have similar problems or input as to what you think is goin on? Thanks

<= 91 Max, auto, no such problems, worst problem was my timing belt broke, I have 197,000 miles.... I don't know what you tell ya man. She's been good to me.
