Car wont start, battery?
Hi,
I am having a big problem starting my 90 Civic LX, 5 speed tranny. Everytime I attempt to start it after leaving it outside for a few hours the car will turn and turn but wont start. It usualy takes about 4-6 starts before it finally starts right up. I took my battery out and reconnected the battery cables, positive starter wire, main positive wire, and negative cable. I throughly cleaned each cable from corrosion and very tighly connected them. It worked for about a while but after I let the car sit all night in the morning it still did the same thing and took 5 starts. Could my battery be discharged? because when i hook it up to my potable charger it moves from full charge to 25 percent charge. It repeats like that back and forth. Thanks, Owen

My first thought was the battery isnt holding charge but then again you said it takes about 5 trys and then it starts so really doubt its the battery. I would check for a fuel leak. If you lose fuel pressure it could take a few to get the air out of the line and get a good mixture for start.

Well,
It has a full tank of gas. I had the problem before and I had to buy a new alternator cause it wasnt charging properly. I had it installed and the problem went away. Then it just recently started again. how should i check for a fuel leak?

well...if it has happened before and the alt fixed it then it is probably as you suspected...check voltage on your battery, check the wires to the dizzy and alt for corrosion...as far as checking for fuel leaks just look for moisture anywhere the hose conects to something...ie...tank,filter,intake manifold
