If you go that fast over the posted limit in the states, you can lose your license, spend time in jail and pay out the ass for the fine and the rise in insurance once you get your license back.

Oz, where i live the speed limit is even slower than that

30 (strict) in school zones
30 everywhere up in sidney (crazy old persons town)
50 through most of town
80 on most of the highways into the city
90 on soem stretchs of the highway into the city

100-110 on the highways to nanimo

130 km/h is a very reasonable speed limit- while Frances highways are for the most part straight and simple- I have seen the devastating results of when a dude in an Audi S8 rear eends some dawdling nuns in a Peugeot 205- not very pretty at all

In Italy it's 150kmh (95mph) in Germany it's unlimited on the major part of the highways... that's better and the highway is made to drive quite fast
Plus, there are not more deads on the Italians or Germans highways (even if in Italy the 150 is recent, it was 130 before 2003).
