This is mere advice and you can take it for what you want, but most people would rather have the story already on the screen, perhaps you could copy and paste the story into the post so as to make it easier for people, and make them want to read it.

sheesh since people are so interested with world issues

Basically what's happening is that the US is turning the Guatanamo prison into an official death camp and despite international criticism it's still going on. The reason it's in guatanamo is because if it was in the US the prisoners would have human rights. The point is, there is young children imprisoned as well, but little is let out anymore. It's an ongoing issue.. just spotted this and thought new news from Gutanamo.

Are they still alive? Yes. Do they get food and water? Yes. Then they get every right a prisoner has in America. What 'human rights' are the people at Guantanamo violating? THEY ARE PRISONERS OF WAR! The oly right they have stem from the above mentioned. Why should they be tried in the U.S. ? They are POW's and are under miliraty tribunal.

That's just the point,Pick.Mr Bush refuses to acknowledge that they are prisoners of war.By referring to them as 'detainees',a meaningless term created for the sole purpose of sidestepping his responsibilities under the Geneva Convention.By holding these people in Cuba,he makes it much harder for their supporters to challenge their conditions through acourt of law.

If as you claim, they are POW'S they should be treated as such. The war is over, unless these boys can be put on trial for genuine crimes, they should be released.

Good point. But I think it mentioned in the article they are being held as POW's. That means that a military trial should be held and if they are not found guilty, then they should be let go.

Obviously you didn't READ the article, or have any notion of what "Camp X-Ray" as they like to call it on Fox News and CNN, is all about. They are DELIBERATELY not calling the POWs, because POWs have rights, and "detainees" in a foreign nation do not have rights.

Considering how justly they've been treated so far, after being accused, incarcerated, shackled, subjected to sensory deprevation, sleep deprevation, beatings and who knows what else, any trials/tribunals they have will be a farce.

I am guessing (not confident) what the US gov. might intend to do is hold a nuremberg styled trial. It's sort of amusing but the US gov. has been trying really hard to face impose and link past events to the recent war very much so. The tumbling of the statue of sadam linked to the crumbling of the berlin wall (plz... now that's just low). Regardless, the ones that are held are clearly not even related and many are just random detainees again, many are children. The issue at hand is that this way the US gov. holds whoever they want and they are not under the protection of international law or even US law. The international community charged the US of breaking the geneva convetion. Sort of ironic and hypocrite since the US criticized the report about the US pow in iraq.

The prisioners are not POWs as the US was not at war. Afghanistan was not a legaly recognised country, therefore you cant go to war against, nor have the priviledges of fighting against, an imaginary country.

Afghanistan didnt sign the Geneva Accords, either.

Apologies for the spelling.
