clearcoat or modeling wax on carbon fiber decal?
how do you make a carbon fiber decal look like it's polished carbon fiber?
I have tamiya clearcoat as well as tamiya modeling wax, what do you guys suggest? |

fly on the wall told me to do a light mist coat of automotive spray clear, followed by a few more wet coats, his ones look great so i can see he knows what he is talking bout! so i would try that but have a go on some scrap to make sure u dont disolve it!

I thought it would look better just being waxed

I clear coat mine with a little add of smoke in that clear... look glossy tho, so if this is what you want, go for it but try to shoot it trough an Airbrush 'cuz brush and clear can break your decals. It tend to act like a glue or something very adherent that will suck you decals off. So don't risk it; airbrush.

Ohhh, if you have it in a can it's good... no need to the airbrush though ! I always tend to refer to my experience and I don't like can so I use the X22 with an Airbrush but if you have it in a can, don't bother... shoot it like that it should do. But again, a few coat will be necessary.

HI,
I just dip mine into Johnson's Klear (Future). I dip it because it always looks glossier than if you just brush it on. Cheers Farrokh |
