like any engine swap check with the DMV to see what you half to do to make sure your swap is legal. Your gonna pass smog laws and all the otehr legal stuff. Other then that it should be a snap. Here try this site www.240sx.org hope this helps ! Happy swapping

Thanks
Thanks but the legal part is no prob for me... here in my country I can do the swap nobody knows...or even they look to the engine they can't dtell the diference...
So I just want to do the things right with the swap itself...no probs after that...

if you can get an SR20. the CA18 is good but the SR will make more power with less mods and weighs about the same

yeah just go for a sr20det if your going to swap in a ca18det... the SR was the CA's replacement..... all aluminum and it only adds like 4 pounds from taking out the ka24de and putting in the sr20det turbo motor. All im saying is if I was going to swap an engine I would defintely put in the sr20 instead of the ca18.... and if you were really mischiveous you could go for the RB20DET... arg arg arg lol

I have some probs of choice...because here in Europe, a lot's of models wasn't sold...
And because the parts, and assistance I have to look better what is the best choice... Well worst, is that here in Portugal less models were sold. We have here the 200sx S13 (you know as 180sx with CA18DET) and after we have S14 200sx that, if I'm not mistaken, has the SR20DET...after that from nissan we just have 300zx... My idea is to bring a S13 240sx from USA (because the steering wheel is on left) and do the swap engine... All this because I love the Body of Silvia S13 or better the ONEVIA...well the most closed to that is the S13 240sx USA...

the SR replaced the CA due to:
A) It costs less to produce =) end of story... the CA is a stronger motor, has a iron block! and a timing belt!.. no stupid chains that are imposible to change.. and alloy blocks that warp if you try to get alot of power from them!.... not to mention the rocker arms! The CA is a RB minus 2 cylinders. the Sr... well... is cheap and nasty! atm i'm rebuilding my Mighty CA!. forged pistons, shotpeened + nitrided internals, port/polishing.. new other goodies =) turbo, intercooler and more.. looking @ ~300rwhp for my daily driver.. but depends how much you want to spend =) in terms of reliablitiy, go the ca. but if you want cheap power with little mods, go a sr.. but you wont get as much from a sr as you will a ca =) |

good point on the torque side of things... but the ca can rev out to 9,000rpm.. and sometimes a little more =)
the main reason you dont see 400 rwhp ca's atm on stock internals is due to their age =) there are a few ca's in AUS with 411+ RWHP!.. thats well over 500 @ the engine or something rediculous =) the most i've seen from a sr is "732"... but as we've found out recently.. the dyno was set to 1.3x adjustment! how BS is that!... that was a 2.2L stroked SR with a T88-34D =) SR's can't rev out as much.. its a known fact due to their shity valve actuation.. if you take a looksi at some dragwars in japan, the ca's are up there pulling mid to low 10's!.. and due to the iron block, the ca will be far more reliable over time than any sr. |
