I need some serious tech help!!!

OK i was going to work today and not even 5min into my trip
I heard an loud KNOCKING NOISe......I pulled over popped off the valve cover and tried to adjust the valves or to see if anything was loose.......Well after that failed I started the car and the same loud knocking....Damn
I called AAA and now my car is home the first thing im gonna do is drain the oil then take the vavle cover off and check for anything odd.........
Does anyone have any ideas?

thrown rod

dropped valve

blown rings

busted wrist pin

serious lash

water pump

low turn signal fluid

hard to tell with out actually hearing it or having a better description of the noise. hope it goes well.

btw -- you just popped your valve cover off on the side of the road?!?!

if you dont see anything odd during a visual, it's very possible you spun a rod bearing... so no driving the car.
