Tahoe door lock actuator replacement

can anyone recommend a link for replacement guidance, removal of the door panels, etc. Actuators are weak on front doors.

Found this post on this board.

I just replaced front lock actuator on 99 it was sticking before and now it works great. Start by removing 2 screws in armrest then remove plastic piece around door handle with screwdriver then take screwdriver and pry up door switch assembly.
finally door panel is held on by plastic holders take screwdriver again and start on bottom edge of door and pry off (the holders are pretty long) once you remove door panel you find actuator in the rear part of door closer to latch (on the front door anyway) Actuator is riveted on drill out rivets and lift actuator off lock arm put rivets back in and put door back together.. good luck!

Tell ya what guys, in my opinion, if it costs two hundred bucks to get them replaced, it's worth it!!

Most of the time, when you get the door panel off, you still can't see the actuator. You gotta work blind and some of those clips are a bitch to remove/replace when you can't see them.

I personally hate working inside of doors.

Re: Tahoe door lock actuator replacement

problem is it isn't $200. the local dealers and solo shops quoted as high as $350 per door...citing the high cost of the actuator (they said $250 dealer-only). I bought them for $29 each.

Re: Tahoe door lock actuator replacement

I just put in actuators from a1electric.com and they were an exact match to the old one for mounting. I will agree that working in the door is tricky, but not too bad. Just hold on to the end of the actuator when you drill out the old rivets and then work it out past the lock arm. Then to put back in just hold it in place and rivit back in place. New one works really well. Cost $29.00 plus S/H and about 1.5 hours labor, most of that was gathering tools and doing some other door repair work.
