What year and model is it? Are you sure it's a factory alarm?

Re: alarm light won't come on/alarm not working properly

Ok so you bought the 96-98 (since the 99-00 alarm is white and in the kick panel)alarm that fits in the nook on top of the radio and some how finagled it into a 95? I am not sure that i am tracking with you here. The alarm in the link is the factory unit produced by alpine for honda years 96-98 civic, 96-97 del sol, and a few model year accords. Is it plugged in under the driver's seat, that is the only place i can imagine the factory alarm harness may be...... please give me some more info, i may be able to help.

i didn't buy it on Ebay, it came with the car. It looks very similar to that. It says Honda on it. Yes my alarm is hook up under the driver's seat. I also have a computer chip under the steering wheel. When i pull that out, the car will not start at all and everything basically shuts down. The car will only function with that chip in there. the windows and doors will be locked when i pull it out. If only i had a digital camera to take some pictures.

Re: alarm light won't come on/alarm not working properly

ok, so the problem you are having is the alarm won't auto arm or lock doors automatically anymore, and no alarm light, sounds like the alarm is in some sort of valet mode, i think if you went to honda service they should tell you if there is a valet mode on it or not or how to operate it. Just call and ask, or stop in, they shouldn't charge you for info. other wise i can try to dig something up on this. Oh are there any switches on the brain under your seat, if you take it out?

i will try and check with Honda. They charged me $30 just to check what was wrong with my car one time. i brought it in one time because all my lights were dead and it had to do with the wiring and the circuit.

but anyways here are some pictures of the main unit of the alarm. i scaned these, hope they help. There isn't a switch for valet or anything like that.

Re: alarm light won't come on/alarm not working properly

hmmm, that switch for mode is what you are looking for, manual is where you set it, auto is where it sets itself, and i am not sure what autolock is, maybe auto alarm and lock doors, what i would do is this, blow out the switch area (compressed air) move all the switches back and forth, then make sure you return to their current postion, or try the auto setting too. Then check to make sure that your dome light is set to go on with the door open. plug in and see what happens, if nothing is happening it's hard for me to tell you without testing the inputs and outputs of the alarm brain, but it's possible it's bad.

Also, i know this is redundant, but forgot to ask before, did you check all the fuses?(ALL OF THEM)?
well good luck, if you were closer to me i'd offer to look at it. Let me know what you find.

Re: alarm light won't come on/alarm not working properly

i took a quick look at the fuse box. i will check every one of them when the weather is good. Which fuse would it be? lights? i see a fuse that's all black and doesn't have any # on it, usually there's always # on it.

I can move the Mode switch back and forth without any problems. I've always had it on AutoLock. when i close my doors, it locks it for me. i've been trapped inside my car before, it might because of this AutoLock thing. i'm not exactly sure how it works because the guy that i bought it from didn't tell me specific details. when i was trapped, it couldn't open n e doors or windows. i couldn't even turn on the engine. Luckily it came back after like 10 minutes. I'm afraid that if i hook the alarm back up, it will go off and won't stop. last time my brother hooked it back up and the horn went off and didn't stop for a long time. After that we never hooked it back up again.

What is GB sensor, Relock, and Sensitivity?

Re: alarm light won't come on/alarm not working properly

GB- is the glass breakage sensor, this detects the frequency of the sound that glass makes when it is broken.

Relock is a function that would be good in the following sit. - you are leaving a restaraunt downtown, you go to unarm your car, press the button, and an old freind comes up and says hi, you end up walking away but forget to arm your car, with relock ON, the car will relock automatically after a minute or two.

Sensitivity is for the shock sensor. (self explanitory)

in my opinion based on what you have told me, any fuse that is bad (with vehicle electronics nothing has it's own circuit, so a fuse bad on abs could potentionally cause a problem with something as remotely unconnected like the hazard lights) replace. any fuse that is bad replace. If all your fuses are good, and you plug it in and it doesn't work, without being able to test the inputs and outputs of the brain, I would venture to say it is a bad unit. Good luck, let me know if you find anything.

25 in a 20 is OK. it's preferable to have a 20, but you should be ok

ok somehow when i went out to my car and try to hook the alarm back up, the 12v wire seems to be missing, i can't find it. I think my bro did something to it, when i asked him where it was at he said he forgot. Where can i get this 12v wire? the alarm doesn't work because there isn't any power to it. The other wire for the long rectangle in the picture is there, so all i need is the 12v for the little square (see picture with red circle).

i can't do the dome light thing that you're talking about because i don't have any power to the alarm any more.
