Quick comparison of new Fujimi STi vs. Tamiya STi

While I'm glad to have the latest STi, I sure wish it had been Tamiya not Fujimi.

What's good vs. the Tamiya kit? It's a new STi. Steerable wheels, separate exhaust.

What's not so good? Rims are too small and incorrect. Interior is from the '90's STi coupe, with cheesy blocks you must glue to the sides, and you must cut the package shelf and glue another on. Body isn't nearly as crisp as Tamiya's. Weird molding over side glass, almost like vent shades/extra large rain gutters. Trunk lid completely wrong, doesn't have the center dip/raised edges that sweep back from the taillamps. Grille not molded open. Costs more than a Tamiya.

Pics:
Rims (Tamiya on left, Fujimi on right)

Note the completely flat, completely wrong trunklid...

Notice the rain gutter detail...

The front looks decent, though the grille isn't molded open.

Fujimi, you really need to try just a bit harder...

I agree with everything you have said and would like to add more.

the quarter panel has somewhat incorrect propotions which makes the rear half's stance look like a Toyota Echo.

all 4 brakes look the same and the calipers look non-existent

Cutting the front grille open isnt some easy task =(

However, if one is willing to kitbash, the tamiya 4 brakes could be used on the fujimi, also the tamiya Sti wheels

just my

Thumbs up Eeeeew

Those pillars all look to thick, even with the rain visors, gives all windows a smaller effect. The trunk sucks

I pray to the Model God that Tamiya puts out the correct version

This model kit is a disgrace to Subaru loyalists everywhere, and Subaru employees, too

I think the Fujimi wheels look nice though, shame about the tyres.

Maybe if we keep buying their crap they can afford to hire REAL engineers/artist. Or either just employ a new philosophy like, ANYTHING WORTH DOING IS WORTH DOING RIGHT!

Skin graft time.
When Fujimi and Tamiya are combined, I guess it will make a decent Impreza.
While trank lid is hopeless, the rain gutter is a factory option. Maybe, they are going to release this?
