Not really. Its still a 4 cycle system of intake, compression, ignition, exhaust. Instead of a cylinder moving in a linear path its the rotary moving in a circular motion compressing against the sides of the block.

O wait I see what your saying, so just use my comparo of the GT and 350Z engine, both have the same hp and gas consumption, yet the 350z is regarded to be more efficient.

All I know is the Cobra is the only car that can run 9's on full interior, AC, and a stock motor (internals). That is impressive reguardless of what you drive. I'd be impressed if the 350 could dip into the 10's on stock internals but I doubt it. Forget the Saleen compare a Cobra and 350Z. Saleens are mostly show in comparison to the Cobra.

I'd like to see proof of the car you refer to with the full interior, A/C and stock internals. That'd be pretty cool to see. I know they're built to go in a straight line, for the most part, but that sounds like it could be a bit of a stretch. The 350 will get there eventually. Give it time. In the mean time...

I dunno what was done to the engine in the Z31T, though. Also check out Kyle's Z32TT on SGPRacing.com in the rides section...he's running 10s in his daily driver with a full interior...and he weighs 3400 lbs. He's running mad mods, though...yet I'd imagine that he still has the A/C and P/S and all beings as it is a daily driver.

I am an import guy, I work at a Ford dealership and look at the Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords mags all the time when I'm bored. When I saw the potential of the Cobra I started to rethink my entire taste in cars. Reguardless there are a few 9 sec Cobras and tons of 10 seconds Cobras all without touching the motor. HP to liter means lttle too me. Power potential on stock internals gets me going and for the money the Cobras and SRT-4s are hard to beat. I was lazy and this is the quickest link I could find reguarding 9 sec Cobras. I guess Ford drivers are not as computer literate as the import crowd!

Haha my bad dude. I MEANT to say that as the volume of a cube increases, the ratio of surface area to volume decreases. A 1 by 1 by 1 cube has a surface area/volume ratio of 6 to 1, a 4 by 4 by 4 has a surface area/volume ratio of 3 to 1. So when the displacement of an engine increases there will generally be less proportional surface area in the heads to create power. Same reason why a high number cylinders produces more power regardless of displacement.

Depends on how you look at it. If you want brute horsepower and a virtually limitless horsepower potential, go with the Cobra. The Saleen Mustang is made to be more of a track car then the Cobra, its handling is far superior.

Look at it this way you will also be paying 1000 more for a Saleen. The Cobra also has an idependent rear suspension, I am pretty sure the Saleen does not (like all GT's). The Cobra has the platform for a better handeling car then the Saleen. Cobras are produced for the street (more forgiving) they are not quite as hard core as the Saleen in the hadling department, but that is what is so lovely about the aftermarket. I know this is a 350Z forum but I think every car nut should know this. A Saleen is just a pretty GT with basic bolt ons. For the all around package the 350Z is a much better starting point then the Saleen, but when comparing the Z and the Cobra the IMO the scales tip in the other dirrection.

That's pretty cool. I've always liked the Cobras more than any other mustang....muuuuuuuuuuch more than any other. Seems like a much more well rounded car than any other. They're all pretty drag strip specific, but at least the cobra has an indy rear...that helps alot and it's actually not TOO bad in the handling department...especially for a mustang. I find it kinda ironic how that guy went BACK to a live axle. So much for the well rounded-ness. BUT...it's still a mustang...and it's still ~$35G, if I remember correctly...and I would NOT pay that much for a mustang. Especially if I'm just gunna dump more money into it anyway...and that 9 sec guy has a decent chunk in that car. I still find it hard to believe that he's "pegging a dyno" on a stock engine.

Also...in that thread, it says something about the 2JZ and how the mustang will make better use of the same power as the 2JZ...this isn't true. The Cobra is quite heavy (I know the Supra's no feather...but still) and un-aerodynamic. The GT is pretty light.
