Re: Ferrari 599 GTO

Err, guys...

Measuring up Tompidoms photos versus the best large profile view I can find online, the ratio of sidewall height to wheel diameter is 14.5% on the real thing versus 16% on Tompidoms model photos. So maybe the sidewalls are 10% too high. The real wheels aren't chrome either... they are graphite grey, so the contrast won't be as high. And I know for a fact from previous experience that although the rear spoked build of the wheels isn't strictly correct, if you paint 'em black, they disappear into the wheel arches behind the brakes pretty effectively. So we could all wait and see if FG model will make some wheels that we'll then figure out how to fit, or we could just welcome the arrival of a pretty cool kit of a very cool car, and build the darn thing...

bestest,
M.

Re: Ferrari 599 GTO

Thanks for sharing, eager to get this one myself. Will be first ferrari since f430 and enzo. I agree with other comments as will have to get replacement wheels and tires for this one. Maybe brakes too.

Re: Ferrari 599 GTO

Well guys, Update time!!
I started the process of painting.
First i filled up the ugly caves in the front bumper

When that was sanded down , I could start with primer and paint

Let that dry for half an hour and started on the decals, They were a real plessure to work with!

When those were applied i mixed up some clear

Thats it for now, Next on the agenda is the undercarrige with the engine.
Hope you like what your seeing!

Re: Ferrari 599 GTO

Lovely. Just lovely. And, boy, you're fast! Did you figure out what those straps on the back shelf are actually for? I can't find any pictures that show them clearly (or at all, in fact...)

bestest,
M.

Re: Ferrari 599 GTO

Just a quick question,

What colour did you paint the wheels with?
