Lumina Stater Noise
My daugter's '96 Lumina 3.1 makes a grinding noise at the stater motor as the key is released after the engine fires. Starts and runs fine otherwise. Maybe the drive is staying engaged for a moment too long? Has anyone else had the problem - is it the ignition switch sticking or the stater drive itself sticking? How to fix???Thanks for any help.

Sounds like the armature isn't pushing the pinion as far as it should to engage the flywheel.
Worth checking. |
