Volkswagen Golf 3 Cabrio

Hi ,

Another Golf, this time a MK3 Cabrio.

I will convert a Fujimi 5 door MK3 to the Cabrio.

For this I have chopped of the roof and am in the progress of moving the handles to the place they need to be for a 3 doored Golf.

Here are some pics:

oh and this happened when I was cutting the windscreen to right size:

So I hope somebody have a spare Fujimi MK3 Windscreen

Re: Volkswagen Golf 3 Cabrio

Use the heat and stretch method, and make a new glass. It isn't that difficuld, specially since there is really no detail on the front edge of the glass anyway.

just glue your crack all up tight...lol, I'm talking about the one in the windshield...and sand/polish smooth, then shore it up from the back side to withstand a considerable ammount of pressure, I'd suggest some modeling clay. Once you get the windshield all supported, place it on top of a tall spray paint can. Now have a friend hold a heat gun, or REALLY hot hair dryer, or use a heat lamp to soften some clear plastic sheet. Once it gets nice and flexible, and kinda droopy in the middle, just smash it over the old broken glass. Let it cool while holding it tight. now just trim, and drill your holes for the wipers, and you've got a replacement windshield.

as a bonus, the windshield will now me MUCH thinner and more realistic in appearance.

That sounds like a brilliant idea, reminds me of making slot car bodies. I will remember that one.

Off to a great start, yellow would be a nice choice for it. Keep us posted, hopefully you could repair the problem, or get a spare.
