1/12 57' Chevy ProStreet
ahhh, the summer is here and I am finally graduating high school. so its time for a new BIG kit. this is the revell 57' Chevy BelAir. I am building it was a pro street car, with a big blower, slicks and skinnys, roll cage and other stuff. heres a look of the little progress i have made. the wheels are from a 1/18th scale Muscle Machines.

Interesting model, but it certainly isn't a pro-touring car. It's a traditional street machine along the lines of a pro-street car (and if it's got slicks in back, it's pro stock; pro-street have rear tires w/tread to make them street legal). Big difference. Just because it's a vintage car doesn't make it a pro-tourer.
Pro-touring cars have modern mechanicals and suspensions/wheels/tires that are made for all-around handling and carving up the corners, not simply straight line speed. They're pretty much the antithesis of pro street if you know what I mean. They're slick looking (smooth hoods or perhaps a small scoop or cowl induction hump, not open w/a huge blower and stacks), comfortable, and are setup for balanced performance much like a modern sports/GT car. A thoroughly modern car underneath w/vintage bodywork. Have fun w/it, no matter what classification it really is .

FINALLY!!! Someone finally told you guys the difference between Pro Street/Pro Mod and Pro Touring. We need to sticky this response so that people don't make these errors anymore. BTW - Nice model

Re: 1/12 57' Chevy Pro Touring
i got some more progess done on the interior. i still need to detail the stering wheel, roll cage, dash gauges and a aftermarket gauge pack.
i made corrections from pro toruing to pro street but i cannot change the title of the thread, so if a mod could help me out.

paint looks good especially since you've got to cover a lot of plastic with a model that size. Keep it up!

Re: 1/12 57' Chevy Pro Street
ya, i find it VERY hard to paint on such a large scale. i found the same problems on my 1/8 scale ford roadster. it seems like the paint tends to develop orange peel very easily. the paint is also very dull. i also managed to mess the hood up by overspraying it with clear coat so it developed cracks down the middle. it is being stripped now.
thanks for the kind comments.

Re: 1/12 57' Chevy Pro Street
that paint looks pretty good imo. rub it out, clear it, rub it again and then polish and it should be immaculate

Re: 1/12 57' Chevy Pro Street
I built this same kit when I was like 10 years old. I screwed it all up though, you are doing a much better job than I did!!!! hahaha I love it, brings back lots of good memories!!
