swapping transmission
hey guys, just curious, how much would it be to swap out my automatic tranny for a manual??? I have a p10 and I really want it to be stick rather than auto........i looked everywhere for a stick p10 when I bought it, but I couldn't find any good deals, now I really wish that I got a stick.....anyways, some feedback of whether I should do it or not or other suggestions would be great..peace

Although I should say that when I was looking, one dealer offered to switch the tranny for me...until they called their shop guy and he said it would be like $5000 just to switch...I guess that's with labor, though, so somewhat cheaper for you do-it-yourselfers. He said that the computer and everything had to be switched. BTW, I fail to see how this is a "cosmetic" issue.

i remember seing this site selling sr20det motors with manual trannies included...for around $3k... maybe it would be a good idea to buy one of those
 ..just a notepersonally, i'll be waiting for a motor swap to do the tranny also at the same time

yeah getting a sr20det and swapping trannies would be definately killing two birds with one stone.....I'll think about that ...........you have a URL or some link to anyone who sells combos like that?
ps. yeah, this really isn't a cosmetic issue but I completely forgot where I was so  :finger: :finger:

honestly, id suggest trading in your car for a manual cause there are just too many problems with switching it. ask Zykotik, he did it but is have problems with breaking CV joints like every week. it could be due to the swap... but it also couldnt be cause of the swap either, who knows. you will have to get new axles IIRC.
