Re: Kit Review: Ferrari 599XX Super Detail-up Set from HobbyDesign in 1/24

Hi guys,

not so good news: a German modelling friend started with the transkit:

Here the disapointing photos:

The rear isnīt long enough at the wheelwell

The rear skirt is to short, is doesnīt end where the body ends (see left side)

The curve of body and skirt are different

It doesn't fit the Revell body any worse than that.

Thanks for sharing. Thats one thing i hate is the t-kit not fitting. It seems like that happens a lot. But the ferrari looks sooo good that i think one will tackle the problems.

They should have just cast a complete new body. At the price they charge for this kit you would expect more. Nice photoetch and resin parts that are very poorly engineered. And you have not even gotten to the interior and wheels yet, wich are wrong or incomplete. What a pain to build.

I think I'm going to cut the rear spoiler loose from the deck lid and mold it straight to the body. That's a unnecessary step to me to have to cut the deck lid out and fool with refitting the new one.

If someone needs another reardeck/spoiler pm me! Someday I am going to turn the car+tk into a fictional GT1 racer and don't need that part.

I've had a 599 GT1 made and in primer for over a year...just can't seen to focus on it and get it finished. The 599xx I'm obligated to have done by November this year.

Does anyone know the wheel sizes for the Corvette C6R (GT1 version, I believe)? They look a bit similar to the ones used on the 599xx, maybe they might be a better substitute instead of the already suggested Peugeot 908 wheels.

The best C6-R rims are in the Scale Motor Sport upgrade set....but they scale out too small diameter for the 599xx.

Yah, that's exactly where I saw them and got to thinking if they were similar in size. *shrug* Too bad.
