Yeah - that clearly looked like a statement to me. I almost asked you how you found out it was #036, but I assumed you would identify another mystery source, so I figured why bother.

I have no idea which car this is. Per the original chassis list, it certainly could be #036 Pale Blue Metallic. To my knowledge we don't have that number assigned to any other cars at the moment. It could also be a refit though, making it impossible to tell. Those high mirrors should make it easy for someone like XOTech to figure it out - I recall he said he's only encountered a few F1s that have those.

With all the confusion and guessing we did about #073, first thinking it was Tom's green F1 road car, and then thinking what was actually #073 was really the last road car, I'm very hesitant to go without hard info on a chassis number anymore.

Maybe by chance, tvrfreak's friend will know more about this car.

My friend doesn't know him personally and did not speak with him at length. He just said that the guy was English and based in England. He gave him much respect for going all the way out to France for a track day.

He also said that the owner did not hold back on the track. Also, referring to the owner, "did say that it wasn't an ideal track car; the suspension setup and tyres have been optimised for road use."

Identity

Right off hand, I am not certain of the owner or the chassis #. However, I am aware of a gentleman that mentioned to me he had purchased a high mirror car. He did not mention the color at the time. I have not spoken to him for some time. I will see what I can turn up. He was living in England at the time and likely still is.

As a side note, I recall a discussion in another thread about the high mirrors and where they originated from,(ie: who made them) The mirrors found on this car are different than those found on the clinic model. I recall someone saying that one set of the high mirrors were made by VW and the stamping could be found on the item. Are these the mirrors that are made by VW or was it those found on the clinic model?

Think it was me, but I was talking about the later low mounted mirrors being the VW Corrado units. The earlier ones were Citroen/Lotus Esprit types, IIRC.

I don't know the OEM of the high mount mirrors, either on the production cars or on the clinic cars. I do like the high-mounted ones with the turn signals built in. Those are from the clinic cars, right?

There was only ever one 'Clinic Model' and I don't think it's mirrors were pulled from anything else. I believe they were custom made units and were never seen on any other F1.

IMO black rims don't go with the F1.

They remind me of cheap steel wheels which are missing hubcaps. I think a nice metallic silver would have been better.

OK, so if this is 36, it's claimed to be "pale blue metallic". This is just a thought, but maybe #36 could be the light blue car in that famous photo that Tim Cottingham took: http://www.plus4.freeserve.co.uk/macf1/mac017.jpg
