D17A2 in 89 Si !!
Ok, I just saw this motor at some warehouse and was wondering if it will fit? It was tagged that it was pulled out of an 01 civic(D17A2 vtec) but I dont know which one, but no trans with it. is it a good swap?? If so, what do I need?? And on the same note, there was also a 00 Integra motor(bluetop/non-vtec) there but it has an auto trans. Would this be better and would it work with an 89 si trans??

from what I heard this is not a Bolt in swap... yes it's a d-series but the new I-Vtec ones, the intake manifold is in front of the motor. can it be done... probably... not cost effective though.
I would stick to the B15b, D16Z6 or D16Y8 for SOHC Vtec. cheap, easy swaps. kun

What about the integra engine?? I think it might be a B18b, would that work and will the si trans bolt on??

integra engine is a b series motor, they make motor mount kits to put it in your civic...but you will need b series tranny, axles shift linkage etc etc etc...

Oh by the way i-vtec is only on hondas k series!Ive also seen a d17a, it looks like the motor mounts are different so i dont think that it work, get a dohc zc, it got a hell of more power and its totally bolt in, and the engine will be much cheaper than a d17

I talked to a honda tech, the D17 might as well be a new series, the only thing they share are bore centers and maybe bore diameters. Everything else appears to be different.
