4-2-1 or 4-1?
Hi all, this is my first post. I'm looking into headers for my 99 Civic LX.
I'm looking into getting some DC Sports Headers. I have heard that 4-1 headers increase torque from 4000+ RPM range and up. But I have heard elsewhere that 4-2-1 headers help with low-end torque? Is this true. Ultimately I plan on buying headers, then a high-flow cat and I picked up a glasspack this weekend. I am going to get some brackets and do me some welding to make everything bolt-on and then have an exhaust shop run pipe from the muffler back. Hopefully I'll be able to spin the tires after all this, and run better than the 18.3 I did at the track recently! While I'm on the subject, I am planning on removing the stock resonator, as I'm under the impression that's what a glasspack does! Thanks for any replies! |

4-1
4-1 is good if you want pure raw top end from the header, 4-2-1 sacrifices a little bit of that top end and puts it down lower in the powerband.
If i were you i would run the 4-1, Im happy with mine. |

Personally i would go with the 4-1 headers.

yeah, you got your facts strait; I saw go 4-1 also. I'm a big fan of workin that high end. Then you let that person you're racing kinda get a lead before your 4-1 header kicks in and your turbo lag drops out and ka-boom you're ahead

umm
whoever said using a 4-1 header and the turbo lag drops when the motor hits the powerband....how are you running a turbo on a dc header? Just curious man... someone needs to get their facts straight.
4-1 is good for honda... especially since we have heads that are party harty for revving high. If it revs high you might as well make some available power up there or else its useless. |

I just started listing off things that I could think of that add to high-end power but not low-end... I have jack done to my car so its certainly not me

Well bud, you won't see headers and a turbocharger on the same car! Just so you know, turbocharged cars use a turbo exhaust manifold, whereas a car that is N/A (no boost) will use a regular manifold (stock) or headers. Headers are basically a manifold optimized for more flow
