Check out my current design project

Ok so this semester I have been taking a Graphic Design II class (there are 3 total for the program) and this last week we have been working on package design. The idea is to create a package both in 3D and flat that can be mounted on a board. The 3D version is also supposed to contain the product (or some kind of filler for those doing perishible items).

I decided to do one for gourmet dog treats All work must be our own, except that we can use a container that was already made, but we have to put our own label etc. on it. I took the photos of my dog and of the treats.

Here's how mine has turned out...this is the first "rough draft".

I printed out the final version last night and just got done labeling the can, which was originally a container for my Fossil watch. I will take pics of the final later on tonight. I also have to put the treats in it tonight too when I turn it in.

Tell me what you guys n gals think

Very well done. Where can I buy some?

Seriously, looks good. Kinda got an antique-y feel to it, like it's an old and well-respected company's product. :ylsuper

Thanks! It has the antiquey look because I couldn't find legal size photopaper to make it glossy. I was also busy running around for other things this weekend so I didn't have time to run to any paper stores. The finished product still looks pretty good in person. My boss let me swipe some legal size paper from the office so I could print this...which was a hair over 11" long.

I am aiming the product at the high-end pet shoppers. There's actually a Three Dog Bakery (gourmet dog deli of sorts) at a shopping area near my office. I thought of getting some their treats to put in my can, but it would prob cost too much so I just got generic steak treats at the drug store

I'll post pics of the final later on tonight or tomorrow (depending on how much homework I have tonight)

I think your professor is getting a free can of dog treats

But seriously, I think the design is cool, really well done.
I hope you get the reward you obviously deserve for all your hard effort.

Thanks for the support

No, I don't have to make the treats. I bought some generic steak treats at the drug store to use for the product. We have to have something in our packages. One guy is doing a shirt-in-a-box type of package. He can use a plain white T, he just needs to show how it would be packaged.
