94 Regal GS-lots of issues

Okay, so I have a 94 regal GS with about 138,000mi on it. It started not wanting to start over the summer, but if i let it sit for 1/2 hr. or so would start back up no problem. It was frustrating, but I was able to deal with it. About 3 weeks ago it started not wanting to accelerate properly. The battery gauge would run high so if i would let the car warm up it would go to normal and run a little better. (still not great) Then it started being all jerky like and not wanting to go hardly at all. I was about a block from the gas station and it ran out, so i got some gas, put it in , started fine, went to station and put about another 3 gallons in. Ran fine except for normal accelleration issue. Took friend home and was on my way back to town and the car just died. Lights and everything still work, no high gauge levels or anything. Car wouldn't start after that. I'm guessing from previous posts i have read on here it has something to to with fuel pump/pressure. Don't have lots of $ to sink into this, but want to get it fixed as soon as possible. Any suggestions????

okay got it started and made it home, but still would like input so i fix the problems

Is the check engine light on?? When engine dies can you hear the fuel pump run. Using a rubber mallet knock on the gas tank when it dies to see if it will start without it sitting and cooling down.
