Valve adjustment

Like a lot of Hondas I've noticed, after the severe overheat episode a couple of years ago, my wife's '95 Accord started leaking oil on top, and the plug wells were swimming in oil when I changed the plugs a couple of months ago.

I wanted to replace the plug wires too, but putting new wires in a hot oil bath would be stupid, so I held off until I could do the top gasket.

Today was the day, and since I had the cover off, I decided it was time for a valve adjustment...car has been in my family since new, and I know for a fact it's never been done....at 230,000 miles now.

Man, that was totally worth the extra effort...they weren't too far out, intakes were at .012-.013" instead of .010", and the exhausts were all about .014", rather than .012" as they should be.

I didn't think that minor adjustment could make a helluva lotta difference, but when I got done and hit the key it fired so quick, and ran so smooth and quiet, I was slightly astounded....what a difference!

I bet the mpg improves too...let you know.

Re: Valve adjustment

We adjust valves on Honda 4 cylinders every 30K when they come in for a maint service. rarely do V6's but they need it too.
