Tamiya Jaguar Mk.II

Just finished this one up. Tamiya's outstanding kit, Dupli-Color lacquer with Rustoleum lacquer clear. Mostly out of the box. I did add photoetch wipers and some plug wires.

If interested, more photos can be found here:

Re: Tamiya Jaguar Mk.II

I added a couple of details today.
The metal transfers to the trunk lid, which look really good:

And the Jaguar decal on the grille:

And here are a couple of nice shots without the macro setting:

You can find the Rustoleum clear at almost any big, general store. Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby, Auto Zone, and a zillion other places carry it. It is usually about $5 or $6 for a 12-ounce can. I have used it over decals once (do a search for my Porsche 962 and you'll see the result). I experienced a slight problem with some of the decals because I was stupid and shot way too much clear in way too many coats. I was impatient and was just trying it out over decals. But I think it wouldn't have been a problem if I had applied it in lighter coats.

And if you find the 1965 Grand Prix I posted not too long ago you can see another example of how this clear looks. I love the stuff and can't recommend it highly enough.

Outstanding work. Shows what can be done with this kit given the skills. Love the colour - really suits the subject well.

Re: Tamiya Jaguar Mk.II

Excellent build.
Seeing yours here makes me want to (finally) finish mine.
Mine is almost the same colour (although I mixed the colour myself).

I noticed you used BMF for the window trim. Any problems there, because that is really what's holding me back on my build... I've never used BMF before, so am a bit hesitant...

I have some good news and some bad news: On the side windows, you won't have any problems with applying BMF because everything that needs to be covered is really well defined in the molds; however, there is absolutely no guide molded in for the windshield or rear window.

Re: Tamiya Jaguar Mk.II

Has this one ever been reissued? I think I'd get another one to build in another color scheme if they did.
