info: Mitsubishi montero sport was being driven home in cold weather with rain, engine temperature began to rise, gauge was crossing into red zone when arriving home. engine temp was so hot that the rain was steaming off of the hood. There was plenty of water and oil so I don't know what is wrong, please help me

Re: HELP! overheating!! plenty of coolant!!!

hi. check your water thermostat. it must be stucked up, thus, preventing the water to flow around the system even if your engine temperature is beyond its normal temperature. the thermostat should open once the water temperature reaches at certain level.

^^^ agree.

you could also check your auxillary fan, it might not be working.

it might overheat on a hot day without that working, but not on a cold rainy day. Unless there was heavy traffic and he wasn't moving very fast, then the rain cold temp would make very little difference, but I still don't think if it was a cool day it would get that hot just from the fan not working.

Re: HELP! overheating!! plenty of coolant!!!

Did you fix the overheating? My temp guage usually stays about halfways but on occasion it will go to 75% and then back to 50%....did yours do this?
