Tradin' Paint Project Gordon- Montoya PHASE ONE COMPLETE!

Built to replicate (For the most part) the car JPM swapped with Jeff Gordon at the brickyard in June of 2003. Revell of Germany FW23 Kit, Scalefinishes BMW F1 blue, white basecoat and dupont clear. Supplemental decals provided by John Barker combined with Kit decals. All in all a nice representation of the car even though the Revell Of Germany kit is rough around the edges!!

I am by no means a Gordon fan, but when he hotlapped the car he was on pace for the 500 that year... so I think he is more than worthy....

Thanks for the comments guys...

Pay no attention to me! I'm just a 1970 F1 fan old Luddite.

What paint did you use for the blue? It stands out nicely.

One question, I'm no F1 builder....so....

Whats up with that little piece of wood? To keep the car from sagging in the middle?

Like I said....I have no clue when it comes to F1 cars...lol

That is a legality plank... On the real cars it is measured before a race and remeasured after a race. If it is thinner than it should be it means the car had too much downforce and it will be disqualified. I am no expert either but it looks cool!!! It is not a simple piece of wood either its a composite wood of some sort.

Everything is spot on.The colours, the paint job, the finish are all flawless..!!! What did you use for the straps..?? They look very realistic, Eduard maybe..??
