Re: Headlight lenses faded
Did you actually sand them and then use a plastic polish?

Re: Headlight lenses faded
I think you will FLIP when you see what they charge for new headlight lenses, I did!
You "might" find usable lenses at an auto salvage. They have gotten wise on the prices and will charge accordingly. My lenses where SHOT (read shot). I was ready to breakdown & purchase new till I ran across a kit at my local VIP Autoparts. For the life of me I cannot recall the name of the comapny that manufactures this kit. It is a well known name. It consists of a number of pads of wet sand paper of different grits. You soak the sand paper in water for about 10 minutes and depending on the severity of the lenses you start out with the course grit, wet sanding with horz. strokes and gradually work your way up to the finer grits. Last step is to dry the lenses, put on a latex glove & using a liquid & cloth you polish with circular strokes untill clear. WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Believe me, I have tryed all the others and this is the kit to use! It costs around $17.00. I'll get back to you all with a name. Unfortunatly, the VIP Web site is no help in getting the name of this kit. Robert

Re: Headlight lenses faded
VIP Auto sells a kit that's unbelievable, I'll have to get the name of this kit. I used it on my lenses that where SHOT & it restored them to NEW condition!
About $17.00. Consists of wet sand paper of differnt grits then a plastic polish. Believe me when I say it works! I'll get back with a name.

Re: Headlight lenses faded
No need to go to a parts store except for plastic polish. Buy one sheet of 600/800/1000/1500/2000 wet-dry sand paper (the balck stuff). Wash lenses and keep them wetr as you begin sanding with 600 and work up in umbers. you will see the crud start to disappear and afer the 1500 or 200 parer, dry the lenses and go with the plastic polish.

Re: Headlight lenses faded
There is a product named "Flitz" that works very well. You can find in online and there are demo's that show its use.

Re: Headlight lenses faded
Polishing can work very well, depending upon the starting condition of the lights.

Re: Headlight lenses faded
My 94 caravan did that. I went to O'reilly Auto Parts (like autozone) and found an inexpensive set of cleaning pads. You soak these in water and attatch them to a drill and polish away. I used a very low voltage (cheap) black and decker. All you need is the pads and some water and the drill. Keep it good and wet, it should work.
