Gigi Galli's Peugeot 307 WRC

Hi everybody.

I've been following AF for some time now. And I can also say that this forum kind of re-ignited my modeling flame.
And now, finally, I can share one of my own builds with you.
I've been building this one for some time. But I get easily distracted and spend way too much time playing games, watching movies and doing other non-modeling stuff.
If anyone is interested in the WIP (and has a lot of spare time on hand), you can visit my site (www.axelv.com) and read the WIP.

Below are some pictures of the finished car. These are indoor pics and will be replaced with some outdoor pics when the weather allows it.
Edit: I replaced some of the pics with new ones. Still indoor pics, but now taken by daylight instead of artificial light...

The kit is the 1/24 Tamiya Peugeot 307 WRC. I used the Renaissance transkit to make the car that Gigi Galli drove in the Tour de Corse rally.

Re: Gigi Galli's Peugeot 307 WRC

awesome, for some reason the 307 has grown on me, I personally want to get started on mine, but want to build others first.

well done, what did you use for the silver on the windows

Re: Gigi Galli's Peugeot 307 WRC

Hi Steve

Thanks for your comment.
Concerning the windows:
For the side windows I used regular automotive mirror foil. I glued the foil to the window with diluted KristalKlear.

For the rear window I used Alclad chrome.
I tried to do the foil too on the rear window, but there's too much curve in the window and I couldn't get it to lay down properly. So I had to resort to Alclad.
On the side windows the foil is glued to the outside, but the rear window is painted from the inside because of the black border around the window.

Beautiful and absolutely stunning build!

Did you apply the CF over the switches on the center console? or are the switches separate piece?

Re: Gigi Galli's Peugeot 307 WRC

@all
Thanks for the praise!

@ddtham
Concerning the center console:
I first painted the center console black (semigloss because I had it already in the airbrush). After the paint had dried I put some CF decal on the console (Crazy Modeler in this case). After that I applied the decal for the center console which was on the Tamiya decal sheet.
To give the knobs and dials a 3D appearance, I drilled holes in the console (using the Tamiya decal as template) and inserted styrene rod (.4 and .6 mm) into the holes.
I painted the rods the appropiate colours, and that's it.

Heheh. Ever wondered where I got my inspiration?
I really loved that build of your brother and I have all the pics from that thread on my HDD. And I used those pics and pictures from the real thing as a guide for my build!
