300zx n/a power potential
hey guys, i;m lookin to get a 90 300zx non-turbo this summer and i;m just wonderin what a realistic max power number would be with mods. I can afford to buy a turbo model and i've heard that reliability is a problem with those anyhow. This is going to be my daily driver and hopefully see some show use. Also, if the motor is in good shape, how well do the n/a models respond to nos? thanks

one other thing. my first mod will most likely be a new set of rims and tires, probably 17's. with performance in mind, who makes a nice set of rims for the 300 that are both light and attracitve? I don't really care for the stock rims much. thanx.

300ZX's (the Z32 1990-1996)
Winner of Car & Driver's Ten Best 6 years in a row Truly a remarkable car... the TT version having 300HP and the NA version having 222HP Both kind of heavy weighing in around 3300 lbs but weighing less than your precioius 3000GT which weighes 3800 lbs Pulls 0.90 g's on the skidpad so she can stick and handle but she's too heavy to be agile RWD obviously not like the 2 lower models of the 3000GT which are FWD 0-60 in 5.2-5.5 seconds for the TT and quarter mile in 14 seconds flat and the NA version goes to 60 in 7.1 seconds and quarter in 15 flat Prices for the good TT's are usually more than 12k for low miles... for more info check out www.twinturbo.net |

it depends on what kind of horse power numbers your talking about, realisticly you can make an na have right around 300 hp with a decent amount of mods, which would be pointless because by that time you would have spent just as much money on your N/A than you would have just to buy a tt, and i know some guys who have close to 200k miles on their twin turbo motor with the stock turbo's and they have never had a reliability problem, it all depends on how well the car has been taken care of, when you buy one makes sure all the records come with it, just use common sense

Yeah! I have never heard of reliability problems on a Z. If anything the VG motors are the most reliable engines out of the 90's! Just do regular maintnance and they will run forever!
