The 1/12 `67 Corvette progress thread...Now finished

Ok, I`ve taken a little bit of a break from building, but now I am planning on finishing my 1/12 Corvette. I should hopefully have it done this weekend. Anyway, I don`t think there is a way around this, but I know there are some bright minds in here that might be able to make this easier. I am trying to paint the "slots" in the sidepipes. The sidepipes are silver and the "slots" are black. I am using the smallest brush I have trying to get the slots painted just right, but the lines keep coming out wavy. I want them to be perfect. Anyone have any ideas?

Do you mean they are long lines that follow the pipe horizontaly? If they are recessed in the chrome pipes just get any size brush, paint the area of the slots black and then rub the excess off with your thumb or a piece of toilet paper, don't rub it too fast though because if its an older Revell kit then the chrome will rub off very quickly so be careful. Which Corvette you hoping to have finished this weekend?

I am hoping to have the red one finished. It may be today, since I am home from work because of the friggin blizzard we are getting.

I keep hearing about these. What are they and where can you get them? Please don`t tell me an art store cause I was just there yesterday to get brushes, and noone can go out on the roads today. Is it like a sharpie?

If you have some water acrylic paint like Polly Scale or Tamiya bottle paint, you can brush it in and just before it dries completely, clean up the edge with a toothpick. Of course this technique works best if you are painting chrome, or over enamel or lacquer paint.

Here is a preview. I`ll get some decent pictures once we get daylight. These pictures came out awful, so the next set of pictures should do it justice. It came out much better than I thought it would a couple weeks ago.

Thanks! I ended up just taking my time, alot of time, and using a very small brush. I had to touch up some places several times to get it to look right. I am glad it is done. I am going to take a break before starting the Yellow one.

Hawk,
That is drop-dead georgeous!! I've never seen the 1/12 Corvette done better!!!
Next time you have a problem with recessed lines try mixing 30% flat black 70% thinner and put it in with a sharpened toothpick. Does the trick every time!!
Can't wait to see the yellow car. I love yellow!!

Thanks alot guys! I`ll try to get some pics up as soon as I can but it probably wont be today since it`s snowing AGAIN!!!. I think I am going to move to the tropics.

Jay:
Should I post the pics in this thread when I get them? I was thinking of making a new thread since this one says "progress" and not "finished".
