Making of - Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM 2000 (24H andOriginal-Teile) (*Progress Pics*)
The second of my new two projects.
I will make both Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM 2000 Team Original-Teile and the 24H version used by the Portuguese driver Pedro Lamy using a Studio 27 decal set. Nothing much to report now since I’m still on the sanding and cleaning phase. |

Yo Gains!
Very cool!! First I have to finish my 4 other C-Class DTM's, then my 3 CLK-GTR's and then (2005) I can start my 6 CLK-DTM's. I still have a long way to go |

One thing I did not like about those DTM CLK's was the lack of of rear inner fender. If you do not scratchbuild them the whole back end around the wheels has a terrible see through effect. The real car has this area totally enclosed in carbon fiber. Also if you look down in the engine bay the headers end in front of the fire wall. I added strip plastic on the wall that sticks out just enough to hide the ends. The fit of body on to finished chassis is also very tricky. I hope this info is helpful to anybody building it.

I look forward to seeing all of these finished! Racing Benzes RULE :ylsuper I was passed on the expressway earlier today by an AMG S55 with the subtle rear spoiler! Man I needed a camera! It reminded me of the S 600 I have in the gallery!

As I was plan I’ve finished today the body paint on the 24H CLK. In house photos don’t give a real idea of the colour of real model, painted with Pure White. ![]() I used the following paint process: two white primer coats (first light second normal), three main colour coats (first real light and the others normal). A minimum of a day of rest between coats. Soft sanding between coats to correct any visible imperfection. Body will rest now for two days. |

Hi Gainsbourg !
It's a very good choice the 24H CLK-DTM ! I also have the S27 decal sheet, but the purple one ! BTW, I am really looking forward to seeing it with the decals ! Bye for now ! Steve |

I have finished the engine and front and rear suspensions. No problem found during this phase. Everything fits well and is only necessary to have some patience to paint some of the parts to get them right. ![]() I'm now working on the cockpit, which will not take me too long and then start to work on the body and applying the decals. I’m also working in the widows and things are not going so good. I had some problems with the masks supplied with the model (my problem, I become psychotic with this process since I had a problem with the Mazda 787B window ) that let some paint infiltrate under them. So I’ve decided to use masking tape and do all by hand. |

I passed the day connecting all of the body parts.
I had some problems in connecting correctly the different parts, especially the front section. Don’t know if someone had the same problem when building this one. Anyway I will have to spend one more day fixing (sanding and painting) the connections since I had to use an extra amount of glue to keep them together. |

Started today to apply the decals. I’m very satisfied with these Studio 27 decals since the came out of the paper real easy. Just have to test them in round areas but until now all’s going fine. Current status of this project: |
