Tamiya Nissan 300ZX project

I had been after this kit for some time and when I saw it going for £10 here in Aus, I snapped it up!

I have been searching the net for ideas and am thinking of pale pearl yellow for the colour, as per this pick...

I have some after market wheels at home that should go on with some mods, so I'll make it with the standard ones while I am here.
They look like this...

I also picked up a pair of 'Boarder mufflers' which are very nice as they have the centre section down the tail pipe, with an outer shell for the tip. These can find their way onto the kit!
Usual lowering job will apply!

that colour on that car = YES good choice.

try a darker colour for the wheels so as to emphasise the whole package.

Yeah, great idea! How about keeping the chrome rim and then darkening the centre 5 spokes?

Call me boring but WHITE looks really good on these cars. The father-in-law has one in white and looks really good.
Nice wheel choice...yes, go for the darker centre with a chrome trim.

Dan, as you probably remember, I am building a 300ZX (convertible). Now after some research on the net I found a great site with *A LOT* of pictures. www.twintubo.net Hope this is of any use to you.

Totally contradicting all I have learnt, I am building this kit using model paint as the automotive paint here is awful!
It means progress is good though, and the chassis and interior are together, with just detail to add.
I have to finish converting the tail pipes too! Photos as soon as I pick the camera up from my cousins! (Forgot it!)

Adding the twin exhausts today! The kit cost $30, and both the exhausts cost $30!
Who said aftermarket accessories were expensive!
They are heavy and hard to keep in place, but I am getting there!
The paint is going on the body now too! The interior is all done in a mid grey. I can't add much detail as I can't may my hands on a magnifying glass here and my eyesight isn't very good without one now!
I will use the standard wheels for the moment, as the 350Z wheels are the different hub Tamiya now do!

I haven't had the camrea with me for the last few days!

Almost finished this one anyway, so I will take some pics of the Skyline and this later today!
Got to finish polising the body and then add all the decals.
I picked up some pin stripe decals to do the swage line, and a pen to do the door shut lines. I'll post how that went when I am done!
