ac drain hose
Just had the evap core replaced in my caravan & when they reinstalled the housing the ac drain hose thru the fire wall got pinched in the opening & was facing back into the van. Well I brought it back to be fixed & now the hose comes straight out from the fire wall about 2 inches & ends, were as before it came out & then dropped about 6 inches towards the ground. I'm wondering if this is going to cause a problem with it draining while driving with the air flow under the hood pushing into the hose. Thanks for any feed back.

Re: ac drain hose
Boy Oh Boy can you ask a good question...
Yes indeed it causes problems--'94- GM "B" bodies had their drain tubes missing from the factory, (only on second shift assembly) - we found several that had complained of water on the floor in the back seat floorpan on passeneger side- only after a long steady (non-stop- freeway) drive in humid conditions. Seems the air flow caused the water condensate in the horizontal drain tube to not flow- and it backed up and out the seam of the HVAC module. In short, the drain tube needs to be pointing down- at least an inch or two, you can push a hose on it and let it hang down and be fine.

Re: ac drain hose
One more question I forgot to ask. Also had the compressor changed & when I turned on the air last friday it did not seem as cold as I thought it should be. So when I got home I popped the hood, turned the air back on & the compressor was not turning on,it was about 65 degrees out. Does it have some sort of sensor to tell it not to come on if it's to cold out. The van has manual controls not electronic.

Re: ac drain hose
In short, only if you have climate control- or an outside temperature display (OAT).. then the rule of thumb is - no a/c when OAT reads 40 degf or less. If you had 65degf ambient and no a/c, then you have a problem.
Most likely a loss of refrigerant due to a leak-- but hopefully, your mechanic will know for sure. The biggest leak source in your van, you have already addressed- the evap- so go back and let the mechanic have another try. These are called "comebacks" in his business... Something no true mechanic wants to have.
