diesel engines

I had asked months ago for a recomendation on a diesel engine that was all mechanical and would be a good engine to use for a jeep cherokee conversion. The recomendation was for an isuzu 4jb1t but I have been unable to find one anywhere for even a decent price. But I did find one site saying they stopped carrying that model and replaced it with a 4JG1T I was wondering if anyone had any info on this particular engine especially if it is mechanically or computer controlled. I don't know much about those engines, but I know there are come common 4BT cummins swaps in jeeps. Its a 3.9L 4-cylinder that is basically a 5.9 that has two cylinders chopped off. Bulletproof, common, cheap, nice, easy to swap.

The 4JG1T engine is very similar but slightly larger displacement. 3.1L vs 2.8L but may be indirect injection. Mechanically it should be a more or less direct dropin replacement for the 4JB1T engine. Electrically I'm not so sure. It's a mechanical pump but may have some electronic management.

Holden Jackaroo.
Isuzu Rodeo.
Isuzu Wizard.
Isuzu Mu.

They're significantly more compact than a cummins 4BT. Isuzu do an engine called the 4BD1T which is very similar in capacity and power to the 4BT. www.4btswaps.com is a great site for that info.

Turns out they are direct injection.
