Can this Forum Section Be fixed?

Why is it that this wheel and tire section shows no entries, etc...and all of the others show properly?

I think it also explains why Luke replies to an X forum query by asking what make of car the question is related to...etc....he must not see the X specific link in his notification of the thread entry.

It appears to be linked to the SUV forum in general, and not to the X forums....Can this be fixed?

Igor (the AF creator) wanted to test putting all the tire-related questions into one common forum versus separate forums for each vehicle so that the moderator could be a tire expert (luke from TireRack). Schlud agreed to try this. It has been about 3-4 weeks since they converted this forum to the new format. So far, I think most X folk have been displeased with the results and therefore, no longer post on this forum. I expect that pretty soon there will be enough complaints (and lack of use) for the forum to be returned to the original.

I think possibly the best solution would be for Igor to have a set of links automatically available from any vehicle-specific forum that would link to an "Ask the Expert" set of forums (such as tires, stereos, shocks, etc.) where industry reps could act as moderators for their respective whares.

Should the suspension posts go to suspension companies? The drivetrain posts to drivetrain companies? Why just tires?

Luke treated the posts as either ordering or not ordering something...complete with Tirerack Logo, etc...not really a forum atmosphere.

I think we'd like to post "Hey, I got those new rubbers I was waiting on..."

and the replies like "How are they in the rain/mud...etc?"

The way other mods are discussed.

Besides....I'd say the first thing a newbie wants to know 50% of the time is "What size tire can I fit?"

You can have a FAQ section...and just list answers...but they might never interact/join the group....just get it and go.

You lose converts/enthusiasts that way...If they have to interact...and they hear "Rocks"...and "Lockers" and "Gears" (Oh My!)...they can get curious/hooked...and want to participate....this is good for the advertisers (increased readership), and good for the sport (Increased market share = Increased product attention to the segment)...and even good for the participants...(we find people to froad with, share good spots, etc.)

Every one sees ads for tires on TV, Mags, etc...They come here to hear what the guys in the trenches (Ditches?) are using/recommending (Real world input).

(I've been ordering from Tirerack since around 1979 or so...and think they're great...don't get me wrong...I just think a forum treating tires the same as shocks or lift kits is the way to go.)

Hey?!?!

Who stuck this soap box under me?

Yeah...I never use the search by vehicle...I always calculate the diameter and widths I would try...and convert to the nominal sizes...and then just enter the nominal sizes...it works pretty well for that...I then weed through the trash brands, etc...and see who makes what in what size I might consider.

I do read the reviews by past customers....with a grain of salt or two. Different customers apparently have different expectations....I just look for patterns in their answers.
