Tacometer Problem
Hey,
I have a 1996 Maxima GXE. When I was driving it the other day I noticed that my tacometer was at 7 and I was going 30 mph. My engine does not rev though. I stoped at a light and it was going between 3-4 and a dead stop. Sometimes it works normaly sometimes it doesnt. What can this problem and how do I fix it? |

I have a similar problem on my '95 SE. The tach has intermittant problems that include: pegged while idling, no movement when the engine is revved, etc. Any ideas?

a possibility is that the back piece of the gauge may be bullging forward and might need some clear tape to push it back.. THis is a known problem for people with indiglos. Take take out the cluster, read the HOW 2 section.. You got to remove the piece uder the steering wheel and the steering wheel will fall to the floor almost, and look at the cluster, there are 4 bolts. take it out.. hope this helps a little.
