It's what, Saturday morning now? Have some patience and give it another 36 hours. Galleries generally aren't posted until sunday afternoon at the earliest (as not to miss any aouncements and such).

Sorry but I have no time to sort the pics and take them here. I've got one question. Is the revell new 250GTO really the old protar stuff reboxed? Any one can confirm? Thanks!

Re: any pics from Shizuoka yet?

am i seeing this right: 1 piece wheels?!? Revell usually have 2 piece wheels with the brake disk inside. now this is a departure from Revell, is this the future of Revell?

Looking at the model, it definitely appears to be the Protar model. The Italeri does not have opening doors and trunk. The door window frames and rear end "squarish" look are representative of the Protar 250 GTO.

Re: any pics from Shizuoka yet?

The GTO is undoubtedly the Protar tool, from the separate doors to the ill-shaped tail. But why Revell, why, you had to pick the inferior tool over the Italeri one? Maybe Italeri is planning to reissue their own Ferrari kits soon (which will be great). The Protar kit does have certain advantages, like opening panels and incredibly thin wire spokes for a plastic kit, but...but Oh well...

I have the Protar kit. The chassis and engine are quite good. I'm in the process of deciding how to deal with the body. I have the Protar, Italeri, Gunze (curbside) and MFH GTO's. Each is a compromise.

The Protar kit supposedly represents a specific real car build but I can't recollect and I'm now at the office. To me, the biggest issues on the body were:
  • The squarish rear end.
  • The door window frames being too thick; and
  • The sides being too flat (not enough of a bulge)
When I get home tonight, I'll check further on real car build info in the kit. Maybe Alex has some research to share?

Re: any pics from Shizuoka yet?

I dunno about you guys, but there are a handful of rad things at the show. I'm DEFINITELY excited about the Aoshima Z, and their weird bodykitted S13 is sweet, too. When's the Z supposed to be released, anyhow? Also, is Tamiya reissuing their 180SX too? Excellent news if so, is there anything new to it (like metal transfers etc) or just a straight reissue? And the first shots of the Fujimi F1 attempt look... excellent.

Well, here's the info on the Protar Ferrari GTO which definitely appears to be the model displayed Shizuoka.

In the Protar kit is a copy of a build sheet indicating that the car is based on
chassis 3851GT 250 GTO Berlinetta Owners : I. Jo Schlesser/Henri Oreiller (F, - Sep 1962 to 1963, registered MO 80576. It apparently placed 2nd in the 1962 Tour de France. Here’s some pics from barchetta.cc:

Apparently, the squared off rear is appropriate for the car. I'll need to investigate some more.
