I was experimenting with the difference in sound, subs faced into cabin, and subs faced toward trunk. I came to the conclusion that they sound better faced toward the trunk because they sound better. I am going to switch out the 10W0's for some 10W3's, hopefully my RF Punch 500a2 is up to the task. It is pushing about 600-650wRMS. What do you guys think? All comments accepted!

Ummm, you were "experimenting" with what? Differant subwoofers will do differant things. If you were actually using subwoofers instead of just listening to what people say... RF subwoofers will do differant things then JL, JL will do differant things then Orion, Orion will do differant things then Image Dynamics and so on and so forth. Without the subwoofers in your hands, there is really no way to tell HOW they will sound. Size of the box matters, type of box, box construction, type of car its going into etc. There are a MILLION factors to consider - and not just "which way to point them"

I was experimenting with the SOUND in MY car, with MY sub enclosure with MY subs. There is a difference in sound when you really listen to it carefully. I have my box right in between the wheel wells in the rear, its like wedged in so that it does not move around. Well i did not change its position when faced front and when faced back. Now when you fold up the rear seat and you listen to the subs when they are faced front toward the cabin, it does not sound deep at all. It sounds constricted, and hollow. I had it like that for only a week because i really wanted my ears to adapt to the 2 different positions. After the week was over, i turned the enclosure around and faced it toward the back, but kept it in the same location between the wheel wells and it sounded alot better. probably due to the higher amounts of air it has to move, which will give it the full sound that bass should have. Now i am not an expert at this, so please if it sounds like i am trying to be, i am not!:sun: I just know what sounds better in MY car.
I still want to ask you though, do you think that if i swapped in [3] 10W3 subs into my box to replace the 10W0's, do you think that my RF Punch 500a2 would be able to power them efficinetly enough for the time being until i get a more capable amp? Please let me know. Thanks alot!:

hey MJ23, read this box aiming. im not sure if its totally accurate, but it makes sense. so basically aiming them back towards the trunk wall, will always sound better.

JL makes some good speakers, but they are over-hyped and over-priced

Ikesound.com has stereo stuff pretty cheap and they have free shipping on all of it! I ordered my whole system there.... two Kappa Perfect 12.1D's, a set of 60.5cs Kappa components, 693.3i Kappa 6x9's, a Kappa 202A amp for the subs, and a Kappa 255A amp for the components/6x9's, and it's all been working great. They have JL stuff there too... you guys should check them out.
Is that amp going to hit those subs when you fold the seat up? |

Not if you shop at >> the right places! http://www.woofersetc.com I don't work for Ikesound. They're in Florida and I'm in Michigan. That'd be a long drive to work. Check my profiles and your info before you open your damn big mouth and make a fool of yourself. I just started coming to this board and to ClubSI because my other car got plugged by a semi. Before that I was one of the top posters on J-body.org, and I've been using the internet for longer than you have I can guarentee you that... Noob? (Or should I say "n00b"? You probably don't even know what K-rad is you homo.) I might be a "n00b" on here but that doesn't mean I'm a troll or I don't know my shit. You were a n00b once yourself, so fuck off. |
