Honda Accord with flames

Hi,
I'm new here and from Jakarta, Indonesia. Tamiya Honda Accord with bluish flame paint over a black body

Planned to fit some 20" rims and finish the body with some clear. Probably have to do some ride height adjustment. Thanks for looking

Re: Honda Accord with flames

I use freehand template and spray a little Tamiya's Coral Blue to create one flame at a time then cover it with Tamiya's Clear blue. The next step I will do is to spray another layer of white flame as the foreground. Thanks and salute to JayVee for the great tutor.

Re: Honda Accord with flames

Thanks guys for the praise.
I read the tutor in the Scale Auto website, which seemed too advanced for me yet so cool. However, I decided to give it a try. First you have to cut some freehand templates which have shape like this:

(use your imagination as the protruding section will be the flame licks).
Then begin from the front of the body to spray the flame one at a time by using more the protruding part as much as possible while avoiding the indented part. Change to another protruding part of the template randomly to create wild flames.

Re: Honda Accord with flames

While holding the template like this:

create flame one at a time. Hope this will make it clearer, Steve.

That's right, I read the post in scaleautomag by JayVee which referring to Mike Lavalle's TruFlame technique. Thanks and salute to JayVee and Mike.

Re: Honda Accord with flames

Yup, true flames are the best looking by far. Mike is defintiely a wealthy man for discovering that talent.

Looks absolutely great on your Honda. Plain and simple, but very well done. I like how it is only white/blue too. Now if you can do a one like Mike, that will be impressive!!! (meaning traditional flame colors - red/orange/yellow/white,etc..)

Re: Honda Accord with flames

Looks good, for my templates, I usually have som sharp points to help make the fire a bit pointier. Good work though.
