88 CRX si swap

I'm contemplating an engine swap for my 88 CRX si. I'm looking for a dramatic improvement in recreational driving, but I'm not going to race the car. Some low end would be nice. I also don't want to compromise the car's reliability.

It looks like the B16a would be a good way to go. What other options are there? Is there any way to insure that the new engine will be in good condition? Does anyone know of a shop in Oregon that does good work on this kind of swap?

Any help would be greatly apprciated. Thanks very much.

If you're looking for low end torque...then the B16 isn't your best bet. It only has 111ft/lbs....it's enough to get a crx around in traffic-but it isn't anything to write home about either Probably your best bet would be to swap in a B20Z (has 146hp and 143ft./lbs. of torque)or a B20B (126hp & 133ft./lbs of torque)out of a CRV w/ a YS1,Y1,J1, or S1 trans. You will need to replace the intake manifold w/ a b16 or b18a/b integra one to clear your hood. You also will need a mounting kit from placeracing, hasport, hcp, etc. Just my $.02 tho

yo

if you just want low end i would go with a b18a/b or b20 also. you will want more power later. everyone does. just go with a gsr 1.8 dohc v-tec. but it is a little more loot. good luck
