S7 Group build- I call it: Monkey's Orange

Here's what I m' currently working on, amongst other things...

It's the super seven (as I have promised MPWR)

Most of the things are done today, I tried kitbashing it with the Protar-modeler's Lola, using that engine, special equipment etc... to become the racy variant on the classic 7.

Please enjoy and feel free to leave c&c.

Oli

Re: S7 Group build- I call it: Monkey's Orange

I wasn't really sure these first shots showed what I wanted to achieve...
so here are some more with some explanation to them.

This is the look of the car, as of right now.

I have changed to the shell:

it might go unnoticed but...

I opened up the grille completely
Of course shaved the ugly molded in wings on the front
made aeration - go-fast-holes on the sides to be able to fit the engine in
I deleted the unneccesary stuffies for the wipers, holders for the exhaust
redone the firewall from the inside
redone the dashboard -partial delete - there will be a digital racing one
One seat only, with next to it, electronics components, battery and an extra cooler
I m scratchbuilding a small tranny tunnel
scratch engine stand
breathers for the brakes in front (F1 Style)

and you might notice, on the back ... a diffuser
and also, quite subtil, but striking, the rear boxy stuff has now received a sloping shape instead of being straight.
Also, I put a racing gascap-stuffy on the back.
And I put an air entry on top of the engine cover, which is opened and will be placed right on top of the trumpets of the engine.

Now, mechanically...

I put an F3000 MUGEN V8 engine in it, light and compact.
I am going to change the front brakes and rear to ceramic brakes.
Also, there are going to be carbon wheelcovers in front, and those in the rear will be widened (not as much as in the pictures, though.

I have some cool rimses for it too (fujimi's)

I don't know what to do with the exhausts, tho!

oh, yeah, and these parts still have to be added...

I will leave it wingless, in an orange (maybe TS 12 or TS 56), with kevlar inside, and carbon front wheelstuffies (and maybe hood).

I don't know what to add or change next, if there are suggestions, I would be happy to hear them.

Bye for now!

Oli

Re: S7 Group build- I call it: Monkey's Orange

Cool, off to a good start it seems. I like the diffuser and front brake ducts. You actually made the V8 fit under the bonnet! Should look great with the pipes running out the side. Will the inake trumpets fit under the bonnet bump?

Hey, those aren't the Panasports I was expecting- but they do look good (if a bit wide on the back end).

Fire extingusher (or nitrous bottle ) for the left side cockpit bay.

I think your screen name just about sums it up - a Big Fritte!

Actually, it looks pretty cool and I like your scoop on the hood.

More progress, fenders scratched on front, and widened at the back... and I made the exhausts, which will be thinned afterwards.

Re: S7 Group build- I call it: Monkey's Orange

Fritte? What is that, big french fry or big strawberry? Or something completely else? I should have paid more attention in French class

This is gonna be a wicked cool project, Oli! Those wheels look perfect for this, and that engine is serious business! I'd be afraid to get behind the wheel of it (but I'd never turn the opportunity down). Did you really cram that engine in there under the hood or are you faking it? Is that the radiator where the passenger would sit? I hope you find a willing passenger, with a suitably hot butt, to sit there

Re: S7 Group build- I call it: Monkey's Orange

Finally another S7 build !
So fun to see what everyone is doing with the same base kit. I'll be watching like a hawk
Really like that hood scoop. The lightweight lola/mugen stuff and the diffuser is a great idea.
I wonder how it would look with a F1 style front wing?

Re: S7 Group build- I call it: Monkey's Orange

Thanks all for the nice comments!

And willimo, it is a fry , a fritte!
simple yet awesomely tasty - you know it.

As for the seven, yeah that stuff on the seat is a radiator!

And Mister that's building the super awesome seven, I love your stuff, it's truely amazing and inspiring! I wish I had the skills and the perseverance. But now I just want to build this as fast as possible in a good way.

Sofar, I did more progress... puttied the arches closed, put on it's colour (ts 68 brilliant orange, pretty good I think, and I painted the centres.

Also you will notice a little thingy as a windscreen, also scratched.

I m pretty happy with the first coat, of course I will still have to sand it down a little, for the imperfections and put a few thick coats over it.

Wow, you can build quickly if you want to, can't you?

I love the colour, I think orange really suits this abby, and I love the aero screen. I take it it's going to have just one seat?

Also good thinking on the exhausts, 4 pipes in total will look very mean.

Re: S7 Group build- I call it: Monkey's Orange

Thanks alex!

Yeah, actually I think one seat will suit it rather well, as i want to make a mugenpowered extreme track car. It will have a little rollbar and lotsa carbon.

Also, the idea is to repaint it ... same colour of course!

Rockin!
I really dig the orange.
I have my 7 kit and the donor kit handy, there always seems to be something else on the bench...

Re: S7 Group build- I call it: Monkey's Orange

Looks really good. Is the body slightly lighter than the hood, or is just the light? I really like how the black centers go nicely with the chromed rims, and the rims themselves compliment the color of the car nicely. Great idea repositioning the battery, by the way. Widening the track came out flawlessly... but that's your windscreen? (laughs!) It looks top notch, but I think it's a bit more wind-deflector than wind screen! I'm just pulling your leg, dude. I'm also very impressed at how you were able to keep the hood fitting the car with such a large engine... not an easy job, and I speak from experience!

So far, so good, man. Keep up the awesome work.

You got that fritte color spot on!

You know what I think already - great job all round

What's that in the background?
