got one!

even being of reasonable age to have realized that street racing is dumb and dangerous, i still get some from time to time.

i'm cruising down the 183a toll road here in austin, which is not finished, and people speed on like nonstop.
i'm going perfectly on the legal limit, as i don't need any more tickets.
i put on my signal to move over a lane to the right (my exit is coming up).
a bullshit little MX-3 (sounded like it had a turbo?) speeds up and keeps me from moving over.
now, i'm a chill enough person, but this just gets me super hot.
this is possibly the most annoying thing a person can do while driving.
so we both keep speeding up, with him still floating along right where i need to be.
damn kids.
this dude is staying right with me until around 90, at which point i get severely pissed.
reach over and bump that quarterstick down a gear, and left his dumb ass.
of course, missed my stupid exit, so i got off a couple of miles later to turn around, i need to go to work.
so i turn around and get caught at the next red before the access road starts, and this guy flies around the U-turn lane and pulls up next to me, flipping me off and revving his engine.
now, don't get me wrong, those can be nice cars, really.
but at a light?
so i turned on the roll control and flooded his little rice burner with smoke.
light turns green at just the right moment, and i'm gone.

yeah, old trucks are heavy, but for real.
a modified 5.7 with a good rearend vs. an inline 4-banger with a turbo?

that guy needed to learn, so i taught him.

yes, i know, he may well have taken me on a track, with turns and things.
that's not the point. american muscle does one thing well, and that's to go in a straight line very fast.
so in closing don't mess with people on the road who don't wish to race.
and don't tell my old lady, i'd be in the doghouse for weeks.

and i shouldn't have left him as far behind as i did. either i was running really well that day or that kid needs to learn to drive.

Re: got one!

If I'm not mistaken hes driving a 1987 sierra or silverado with a 240hp small block....

Can't really say much else because "modified" calls for a big span of things possibly done on that car.

So you could probably take an Evo, right? Or a gutted B18+Turbo Civic hatch? Or a nice Stage 2 SRT-4? Yeah. Everyone knows that all four cylinders are slow.

Re: got one!

i make it a point not to run around causing problems or endangering myself or my fellow citizens.
i exist to tell kids that they're wrong.
strapping a huge wing, fart can, and ground effects on a car doesn't make it quick. it makes it annoying.
i'm not a street racer.
i'm not a total gearhead.
i'm just a guy who gets a little annoyed with kids pretending they're in 'need for speed'. i don't even have that great of a truck, it's just a little quick. no doubt there's a jillion cars that could take me.
maybe even a 4-banger, maybe.
14.2 is pretty quick in truck land, but i'm sure there's plenty of you that can do better.
so let's all join forces and tell people to work on the MOTOR before they start strapping plastic to the outsides of their cars and calling themselves 'tuners'.
we all know it takes more than that.

Here's a member with a basic bolt-on Cobalt that once he gets his launches down will be able to put hurt on your truck. How can I tell? Well it's easy, the Trap speed is incredibly good, almost is trapping as high as my old stock Z28 LS1 (104-105mph).

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=695394

So yes, a four banger can beat you. Get used to it.

And please don't come in here and preach on about ricers and kids racing around in 'tuner' cars like it's a new topic. Trust me, we've all seen it before.

Next.

Re: got one!

What Stig is trying to say is we already know that.
We are compulsive street racers and we've been laying it down for a long time. most of us realize the risk and race on our terms only i.e. empty streets, no ressidential areas, no dangerous road conditions. I personaly street race cause I simply dont have a track near me to do it on and I refuse to drive for an hour to west palm everytime I wanna mesh the gas a bit.

If youve really read the forums like you say you do you know we are all contious and effective street racers who dont endanger people.

Oh and Stig, make that two members! I havent posted about it but the Redline is on its way to Stage 2 with some toys.

Re: got one!

I'm still stuck on the part where he's mature and out grown street racing...

Yet when someone cuts him off or keeps him from moving over or whatever, he gets upset and chases him to race. Yeah, real mature and outgrowing of street racing. Sure.

Re: got one!

i feel that people that puposely get in ur way of trying to get off a highway deserve to et in an accident.
yea everyone knows that there are four bangers that r very good little cars. but god stop with the fucking civics, if i hear one more pull up next to me, open his window and say "lets c what it can do", i'm just going to sit and wait till his ass gets pulled over.
u know i had respect for modified cars back in 97-98 b4 fast and th furious came out, they were cool cars, something different. since then this whole craze has cuaght on that four cylds are always quicker than 6's or 8's.
i wonder if ne1 relizes the only fours that were big in that movie were the s2000(246hp stock) and yea that's it. the civics probably had a turbo and a bodykit, and the rest were 6's, other than the rx7. whats worse yet, that movie was made because street racing got to b really bad in the l.a. area, and they wanted to make a movie to show how much worse it could b. to bad they screwed up and made it worse.
than ea had to go and make need for speed 4banger unleashed. its made it even worse.
i ahve ten people calling me a pussy becausei dont wanna waste gas racing a bunch of integras and civics. i own a 300hp twin turbo stealth, it's purely a waste of my gas to drive to the next town and race. at a track sure i'll go for a few races.
there was a kid who did wanna race, and he had a nice car(compitition) and he said no, once he saw my car.
and 14.2 is very good for a truck, even cars, u know civics and integra's. my stealth does 13.5 or so.
as for the cobalt, they r quick i'll give u that, but say the money u put into the four banger, is then for all fairness put into that truck, he'll still win.
face it, these civics have around 2g in em, 10g for really well done cars, if u put that much into any car it'll b good, into a car that's better, it'll come out on top.
so in closing people in lil 4bangers need ot relize wat kinda race they're getting into b4 they go racing
