Heater Problems

I got a 2001 dodge grand caravan sport.

Today I went to use the heater and only the blower would only run in the high position. Medium and low would not work, but at the same time the heater worked fine in the back, low medium and high. I am sure they are serperate blowers so the rear has nothing to do with the front. But anyways what is wrong, resistors? How can I test this? What do I look for/start at?

Thanks

P.S. Here in minnesota its -20F

Re: Heater Problems

Sounds like the front motor resistor is blown/corroded. Mine is a 3ed gen and it is on the firewall side in the engine compartment. I think it was moved to behind the glove box in 2001 but I could be wrong. Replacement in either location is relative simple with the glove box mounting being easier access. The wire contacts/connectors must be checked for corrosion also.

As always good luck with your project.

Re: Heater Problems

I have the same van and had the same problem. It is the blower motor resistor. They are only like $20.Drop your glove compartment(open and press in on sides and it will drop out of the way)you will see a wire harness plugged into the blower housing. It is plugged into the resistor.Unplug and remove the 2 screws and pull out the old one install the new in the reverse order
