Question Painting Interior Trim

Hello,
I have a 2000 Mustang convertible that I bought used about 6 months ago. The interior trim is made out of black plastic and it is pretty scuffed up. I just got a new system put in my car but the trim is really taking away from my investment. I have heard that owners have actually spray painted and dyed their interior to their desired look. I was wondering if you had any advice on the paint and/or process. I do not want the trim to become worse with chipping but I don't have an extra grand laying around to have it proffessionally done. I talked to one guy who said he had it done proffessionally and they dyed the trim to match, how would this be done? Any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you.

and do you know what color is close to E6 Ford Laser Red

If you don't trust yourself w/ painting your interior, by all means get it professionally done.

All you really need is: Bulldog adhesive promoter, paint & patience.
When dying, they dip the desired parts in [insert color here] coloring dye making sure that all of it is colored.

As for a color match on that E6 Ford Laser Red, try paintscratch.com or your local stores...

all of the paint stores that sell to the painters have a cahrt with the factory interior paint codes. they mix to specs and I'd really listen about prep products

well

the secret is prep. sand with about 400 grit, then water sand with the same grit... people might say use ruff then get lighter to about 400 but its not a biggy...
so water sand , dry. wipe and clean with mineral spirits(thinner)
about 3 times. then lay on a coat. not to much that it runs be careful . let dry a bit then put another coat .. let that shit dry for about 30 minuets... then wipe realy well with spirits again (NOT TO HARD THOUGH) dont take your paint off. just created a bottom coat and a top coat and depending on how coated your trim is by this point put on one or two more coats. or untill fully coated .. kinda difficult to get a nice reflective shine with spary paint but hey its interior itll look factory again.

i did my interior many times and i just now got it rite. it takes alot of patients and a few days off. depending how good you realy are...
