Nice work on a very cool car. I really like the wheels, they seem to really suit the style of your build!

Looks good. The paint looks like a flat black, or is that just the picture?

Re: [AMT] Chevrolet Impala SS '67
Yeah actually, the paint is quite flat I must admit, but I kinda like it that way
. Other than that, I'm still a n00b and it's only my fourth car. I guess i'll get better with painting and all by building more models (I got 5 more coming in a few days ).The car ended up being I little higher than what I expected, but It isn't really possible to make it too low since the chassis is composed of the classic flat thing (you know what I mean) and a big frame (in the pic that shows the car's chassis, it's the big aluminium painted thing). Also the front suspension kinda gets in the way of the wheels. But I think it looks ok. @ speener : I used some of that revell aqua for all the plastic pieces, but obviously not for the body . I really like that revell aqua color, it's easier to use than classic revell enamel paint and you can wash your pencil with a quick drop in some water. This is the first muscle car kit I finish from AMT and it was really nice compared to some others I tried to build in the past...if you want to build a '67 impala, take that one ![]() thanks for the comments! |

Re: [AMT] Chevrolet Impala SS '67
I like this kit too, and for your fourth build, you have done an outstanding job! the interior looks great. but here's some food for thought. why NOT do the trim work to get some practice? the AMT kits are generally $10 or so, so why wait till you have a $30 tamiya, or $50 fujimi enthusiast kit to find out that you don't know how to do trim work? nice thing about paint, if you mess up, strip it and start over.
one thing that would make this car a true show stopper is to see it dropped another 2 scale inches in the front, but like you said something about the suspension. fantastic build, keep it up!

Re: [AMT] Chevrolet Impala SS '67
Well thanks for that
![]() Sorry to ask but what do you mean by trim work? (English is not my mother language although I can understand and write it quite well). I think I did my best paint job until now. Did everything possible to avoid dust and it worked well, so now I know exactly what to do! For the fujimi kits and all that...I found a great site in HK where most of 'em cost between 10 and 20$ and shipping cost are quite low (if anyone is interested, just ask). |
